Thank you to Gricel’s Photography for accepting this feature! I have been thinking a lot lately on what I can offer you all aside from my typical client sessions. I think sharing some talented, hardworking and passionate small businesses is the perfect mix for this blog.
As many have seen, Gricel’s Photography is my personal photographer and I know you are all very jealous (I don’t blame you either 😛 ). She has the ability to capture some of the best emotions and I’m glad she is willing to step out of her specialty and capture my family.
Everyone please meet Gricel (photo credit to MarjorieDatuinphotography):
Tell us a little about yourself, aside from photography: My name is Gricel, I was born and raised in New Jersey. I am a newly married woman expecting my first child in December. I married my high school sweetheart, Danny, who is the love of my life and business partner. We have a PRECIOUS dog named Toby who is our first child in our eyes. Danny and I both are a part of Gricel’s Photography.
You’ve been a Photographer since? I’ve been shooting for about 4 years now. Since my senior year in college.
What is your specialty? I mainly focus on couples and weddings and dabble on sweet sixteens every now and then.
Why weddings? I absolutely LOVE weddings. The magic of a couple expressing their love in front of hundreds of people and everyone rejoicing in their love is beautiful. I cry during father /daughter dances ALL THE TIME because it brings me back to my wedding day. At the end of the day Danny and I make a connection with our couples from the time they first got engaged to the moment they become husband and wives. Some of our past clients are now friends whom we have dinner with or just met up to catch up.
Who is your biggest inspiration? My inspiration comes from Magazines and Big-Time Wedding photographers.
What is your biggest struggle? Being my own worst critic. I see imperfections and flaws in my images where other people might not. I want to be able to see my images in a positive light.
What is your goal? At this point I want to make Gricel’s Photography my full time business. I want to dedicate myself to this art, 100% of the time.
Any tips for brides/grooms? Something I always tell my brides is to plan things one item at a time. Many times weddings can be overwhelming but if you just take one day to JUST look at shoes or flowers, etc the process will be a lot easier. You can definitely get caught up thinking of all that is left on the to-do list but just take it one item at a time. Now for both the bride and groom, HAVE FUN, enjoy every moment of your wedding because it definitely flies by. Hire a photographer who is very detailed oriented so that you can look back at those images and see all your hard work that you put in for the past year, captured.
Your recommendation for anyone looking to get into wedding photography? BUY GREAT SHOES! LOL. No really. Try being on your feet for 10hours straight and tell me if your feet aren’t going to look like sausage at the end of the night. lol. No but seriously, its all about the connection you make with the bride and groom. Make them feel comfortable and make them feel as if you weren’t taking their pictures. Remember to make yourself a checklist of what shots you want to achieve. This way you are covering all your grounds. Any other questions feel free to reach out to me email@example.com
